Once upon a time there was a guy named Russell Brand. While he had been either tabloid famous or notorious prior, I didn’t really take much notice of him until the 2013 release of Messiah Complex, where he apparently was taking a stab at stand-up. He’s an interesting cat, but in my mind he gists as the guy famous for being an addict. Touting at least drug and sex addiction, to me he’s the celebrity-addict turned ‘God-Knows-What’. As such, the thing he said that sticks most in my mind is something along the lines of ‘If you’re not working a program, you’re working someone else’s program’. I think he picked it up in an Alcoholic Anonymous meeting somewhere. Essentially, you’re going to be working a program, it might as well be one you knowingly choose for yourself.
It is with that in mind that I decided to try this Rainbow thing.
Now, going with the rainbow is a questionable move - given that publicly the rainbow has been completely hijacked by anti-natal deviancy. Once upon a time the rainbow was a reminder of a covenant with God, now it seems to be about being proud of who you let use your body for orgasms. I’m loathe to cede the linguistic territory, and as such, I’m using it anyway.
I map the rainbow onto what is stored in my head as “the Chakra system,” though I get the one I used from channeled woo from the eighties way more than the respectable Eastern traditions. I hear there is big-brain versions in the Bhagavad Gita or in Asian stuff, but I’ve never looked particularly close at those versions.
In the system I use, existence is an Octave, and the seven spaces between the lines of the Octave are characteristic of different concerns; survival, internal harmonics, social harmonics, love, wisdom, intelligence and wholeness. They cascade into layers of motive power. For example, it’s a great deal more challenging to be concerned with wisdom and intellectual pursuits when you’re starving to death.
Having recognized in myself a tendency to either sabotage or at least ignore entire bands of motive concerns in favor for another, I thought that dividing the week into seven associative days with the intent to embody an associated spectrum of concern would be a self-programming that might lead me to a more balanced life and increase my ability to function. So, as an accountability aid and statement of intent, I made mention of it in the Season 13 Prologue episode of my YouTube livestream.
I can speculate that over time directing my attention to this or that aspect of existence will become more focused and efficient. Today, though, as the first day of the new program, it is enough that I tie this particular behavior to survival.
Now, this substack piece could easily fit into many of the different categories/concerns. Social is an obvious one, and I could squeeze it into Love or Wisdom if I tried enough. It’s serving as servicing the survival concern today, however, as Substack is an avenue of financial support for my supporters that have this qualm or that about using Patreon. Servicing the platform and those that use it result in increasing my ability to meet those pesky survival needs of the biological shell my spirit and intellect operate from.
I’ve added the above-imaged section to the Broken Cl0ck Tower Discord, in case anyone wants to play along. I’ve learned from discord if you don’t have a discussion category, people will just have discussions anywhere. The other rooms are intended to be a place to hold themselves publicly accountable for continuing with the program, or at least that’s how I intend to use them. If myself and others keep track of what we do in service to the various spectrum-concerns, those channels could become a repository for what one might do in service of those concerns. If people check in with what they did in pursuit of a concern, it might give someone who wants to play along but doesn’t know how an idea of how to play when they can’t come up with one.
What did you do today to address the needs of your own survival?
Are you working an explicit program, or free-floating in a potentially unbalanced way?
You should take a look at the Bhagavad Gita...after all, the next potus was sworn into the 113th congress with her hand placed firmly on the text. She's a decent surfer I hear so there's that.
I am fighting off an unprecedented hot weather in England by virtually keeping still and hiding in the shade. It is not as easy as it sounds.
I salute Our Rainbow Warrior!!
